This fish is known as
Spot-Fin Porcupinefish, Black-Spotted Porcupinefish and the correct latin name is
Diodon hystrix. The family that this fish belongs to is called the
Burrfish family. (

almost everywhere in tropical waters. (

Character and suggestions regarding care
A semi-aggressive fish which is not recommended for home aquariums due to it’s size. However, if you have an extra-large fish tank, then this species will be a great addition!
Spot-Fin Porcupinefish can grow up to 90 cm what is approximately 35 inches. In general, 1 specimen requires at least 10800cm
2 of water surface which is approximately 1674 square inch. This fish should be kept in aquariums that are very large. (
e) Medium aquariums have at least 113 Litres (30 US Gallons). Large aquariums have at least 265 Litres (70 US Gallons). Capacity of very large aquariums is at least 700 Litres (185 US Gallons).
It is difficult to keep the Spot-Fin Porcupinefish. (
e) The specific gravity (SG) should be between 1,020 and 1,025, the temperature between 23°C (73.4°F) and 26°C (78.8°F). The recommended pH level is between 8.0 and 8.3 since marine fish are used to these levels in general.
This fish should be kept alone in the tank, because of it’s aggressive temperament.
D. Hystix will eat crabs, shrimp, snails, squid, clam and almost everything what he can put into his mouth.
