This species is known as
Striped Eel Catfish and the correct latin name is
Plotosus lineatus. The family that this fish belongs to is called the
Eeltail Catfish family. (

Character and suggestions regarding care
Might be aggressive towards other species.
Striped Eel Catfish can grow up to 32 cm what is approximately 12 inches. 1 specimen basically needs at least 3840cm
2 of water surface which is approximately 595 square inch. This species will require to be kept in a tank that is large. (
e) Medium aquariums have at least 113 Litres (30 US Gallons). Large aquariums have at least 265 Litres (70 US Gallons). Very large aquariums have at least 700 Litres (185 US Gallons).
It is not very difficult to keep the Striped Eel Catfish. (
e) The specific gravity (SG) should be between 1,020 and 1,025, the temperature between 23°C (73.4°F) and 26°C (78.8°F). The pH level should be stable, varying between 8.0 and 8.3 which is usual for marine fish.
This fish lives mainly in salt waters, but it can survive for not too long in fresh waters too. The tank should be large with sandy bottom. The best is to keep this fish alone in the tank as adults, younger fish need community. It has a venomous spine, so you should be careful.
P. Lineatus is a bottom feeder. It should be feed by sinking food which it will search for in the sand. The food may be frozen, fresh or flaked seafood. This is a carnivore, so the food should be meaty.
