Character and suggestions regarding care
A semi-aggressive species.
Cortez Angelfish can grow up to 46 cm what is approximately 18 inches. In general, 1 specimen requires at least 5520cm
2 of water surface which is approximately 855 square inch. It is recommended to raise this species in fish tanks that are large. (
e) Medium aquariums have at least 113 Litres (30 US Gallons). Large aquariums have at least 265 Litres (70 US Gallons). Very large aquariums have at least 700 Litres (185 US Gallons).
It is not very difficult to keep the Cortez Angelfish. (
e) The specific gravity (SG) should be between 1,020 and 1,025, the temperature between 23°C (73.4°F) and 26°C (78.8°F). The suggested level of pH (a measure of the acidity/basicity) is between 8.0 and 8.3 which is usual for most marine fish.
Cortez Angelfish is omnivore and you should feed them wide variety of meaty and vegetable food such as salt water algae, shrimps and preparations for angelfish. It even will eat sponges, clams and corals, so it is not a good fish for reef tanks. Cortez Angelfish should be alone in the tank because of it’s aggression, especially if you have a smaller tank. In bigger tanks - 180 gallons and more, you could have this angelfish with a few other fish, but you have to create hiding places in there.
